Lucinda Abra will be sharing her most recent encaustics and oil painted collages, with their unique reflections on the deeper mysteries of life. This show breathes life into our powerful mythos and stories, using iconic characteristics of mythology and common archetypes. Grappling with these archetypes is essential to becoming more clearly individualized, a step of becoming a more wholly actualized person. All cultures hold myths that are symbolic gems of the human psyche. We manifest outwardly what issues are being dealt with internally. The lessening light of autumn brings a more internal season of self-revelation and personal discovery. Along with these deeply contemplative encaustics and collages Ms. Abra will be showing her journey towards psychological and metaphysical truths through her original oil paintings.
Lucinda Abra lives and works in what was previously a cooperate creamery, then a church social hall, and then the local polling location. It is now a home studio with her Bull Terrier, Artemis. Raised in Detroit, Lucinda's deeply evocative work is fed and influenced by the many cities that she has lived in: New Orleans, New York City, Woodstock, Long Beach, CA, and now the scenic Hudson Valley of New York. Lucinda has had over forty exhibitions in New York City and has also shown in Europe. Her work is collected in California, Michigan, New York, Stockholm, and Paris.
